We are a broad-based, transportation labor union representing about 125,000 active and retired railroad, bus and mass transit workers in the United States.

SMART Transportation Division (SMART TD), formerly the United Transportation Union, is an organization representing approximately 125,000 transportation employees throughout the nation. Our membership includes active railroad workers in all operating crafts including engineers, conductors, trainmen, switchmen and yardmasters, as well as a wide range of bus and transit operators, airline pilots and flight attendants.
